UX research & UI design
Interfaces people understand without thinking.®
Tested with real users
We watch real people try your journeys before build, so layout decisions rest on evidence rather than opinion.
Design systems
Shared components with type and colour rules, so your site or product stays consistent as new pages are added.
Clear journeys, considered screens.®
For marketing sites, SaaS products and web apps, we plan the structure, test it with real users and design every screen so people find what they need and act on it.
Usable first.®
Accessible by default.®
The detail
How a UX/UI design agency works, from research to handover
When you need a UX/UI design agency
Bring in a UX/UI design agency when people can't find things, sign-ups stall halfway or your product has grown screen by screen without a plan. It also pays off before a big build, when changing a wireframe costs far less than changing finished code.
If your site works but you want more enquiries from the same traffic, conversion rate optimisation may be the better first step. Not sure which? We'll tell you honestly on the first call.
UX research and user testing
Research starts with what already exists: analytics, support questions and the journeys your team suspects are broken. Then we test, because what people say they do and what they actually do often differ.
In a moderated usability session, a participant works through set tasks and thinks aloud, the method the GOV.UK Service Manual sets out for watching people use a service. Sessions can run in a research space or remotely, and people who use assistive technology are usually best on their own devices.
Findings come back as a ranked list of problems, each with the evidence behind it, so you can see why we're changing something.
Wireframes, prototypes and UI design
Wireframes fix the order of content and the steps in each journey without colour or imagery getting in the way. Once the structure works, we build a clickable prototype so you and your users can try it before anyone writes production code.
UI design then turns the approved structure into finished screens for mobile, tablet and desktop. Everything is built from shared components, so a button or form field behaves the same wherever it appears.
Design systems for growing products
A design system is the set of components, styles and rules your team reuses. It stops a product drifting as features are added, and speeds up design and development alike.
For SaaS website design and product work, we document each component's states, such as hover, focus, error and disabled, so developers aren't left guessing. If you'd rather we build it too, our Framer web design team works from the same files.
Accessibility basics we design for
The W3C's WCAG 2.2 sets three conformance levels, A, AA and AAA, and GOV.UK guidance says public sector websites should meet 2.2 AA. We use AA as our working standard for private sector clients too.
In practice that means normal text with a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, everything usable by keyboard with a visible focus indicator, text alternatives for meaningful images, and pointer targets of at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, with some exceptions.
How we measure whether it worked
We agree success measures before design starts, such as task completion in testing, sign-up rate or fewer support questions. After launch we compare those numbers with the starting point, and conversion rate optimisation can keep testing from there.
What to have ready
Analytics access, any past research or customer feedback, your brand guidelines and a list of the tasks that matter most to your users. If you already have developers, an early introduction helps us hand over in the format they prefer and design within any technical constraints.
01 — Discover
We review analytics, talk to your team and customers, and map where current journeys confuse people.
02 — Define
We sketch user flows and wireframes for the key tasks, then agree the structure before visual design starts.
03 — Design
We design the interface, turn it into a clickable prototype and test it with users, fixing whatever trips them up.
04 — Deliver
We hand the design system and specs to your developers, or build the site in Framer ourselves and transfer it to your account.

Pricing & FAQ
UX & UI design pricing.®
UX and UI projects are quoted after a call, based on the number of screens and journeys, how much research and user testing you need, and whether a design system is included. You get a fixed quote before work starts.
What's the difference between UX and UI design?
UX design is how something works: structure, journeys and the steps to finish a task. UI design is how it looks and responds: layout, type, colour and components. A UX/UI design agency handles both so they don't pull against each other.
How much does UX and UI design cost?
It depends on the number of screens, the depth of research and whether you need a design system. We give a fixed quote after a discovery call.
Do you do user testing?
Yes. We run moderated sessions where participants try set tasks on a prototype or live site and talk us through their thinking, in person or remotely. Then we fix what tripped them up before build.
Do you design websites, SaaS products and web apps?
Yes. We design marketing websites, SaaS sites and product interfaces, from a single sign-up flow to a full dashboard.
Can you work with our developers?
Yes. We hand over organised design files with components, states and spacing documented, and stay available while your team builds.
How do you handle accessibility?
We design to WCAG 2.2 level AA: readable colour contrast, visible keyboard focus, text alternatives for images and targets large enough to tap. It's also the standard UK public sector websites are expected to meet.
Can you also build the design?
Yes. We can build it in Framer so the live site matches the approved design, then transfer the project to your own Framer account at handover. Or we hand the files to your own developers.
What do we get at the end of a UX/UI project?
Depending on the scope we agree: research findings, user flows, wireframes, a tested prototype, final UI designs and a design system file.
